Coco Pitaya-Yah Bowl™
$11.99 – 460 Cal
The Coco Pitaya-Yah Bowl™ is a smoothie bowl on the permanent menu at Smoothie King, found in their Smoothie Bowls category. It is made with a blended pitaya (dragon fruit) base that uses papaya juice and a little bit of turbinado sugar. This creates a thick texture that you eat with a spoon instead of drinking it like a juice. The base is topped with Purely Elizabeth® Ancient Grain Granola, shredded coconut flakes, fresh sliced strawberries, sweetened cocoa nibs, and a drizzle of chocolate hazelnut.
The bowl is completely plant-based, dairy-free, and gluten-free, containing no animal products in the base or the toppings. It is important to note that pitaya is used for more than just its bright color. Pitaya is a fruit that is naturally low in calories but high in fiber and antioxidants. When blended, it becomes thick and creamy, which helps it hold the toppings without turning watery as you eat it. The Purely Elizabeth® Granola used in this bowl is a special brand that uses ancient grains like amaranth, quinoa, and millet along with oats. This gives the granola a better nutritional value than regular granola.
Because of its thick texture and whole food toppings, this bowl feels more like a full meal than just a snack. People often eat it for breakfast, as energy before a workout, or to recover after exercise.

Benefits of the Coco Pitaya-Yah Bowl™
High Antioxidant Content
Pitaya has betacyanins, vitamin C, and polyphenols. These help fight “free radicals” in the body, which are things that can cause cell damage, swelling, and faster aging. Cocoa nibs also have many flavanols. This means the bowl gives you a lot of antioxidants compared to its calories.
Good Amount of Fiber
With about 13 grams of fiber, this bowl gives an adult 34–52% of the fiber they need for the whole day in just one meal. This fiber comes from many things like pitaya, granola, strawberries, coconut, and cocoa nibs. It includes different types of fiber that help your digestion and keep you feeling full for a long time.
Steady Energy
The energy in this bowl comes from real foods like fruit, ancient grain granola, and coconut instead of processed sugar. This helps your body release energy slowly. Because of this, you get steady energy without a quick “spike” and then a “crash” afterward.
Completely Plant-Based
Every single ingredient comes from plants. For people who are vegan or do not eat dairy, this bowl offers a mix of healthy carbs, fiber, plant fats, and 8 grams of protein. It contains no animal products at all.
Healthy Fats from Coconut
Shredded coconut has MCTs, which are a special kind of fat. Your body uses MCTs for energy much faster than other fats, and they are less likely to be stored as body fat. This makes coconut fat different and more useful than most other fats.
Vitamin C for Skin
Both pitaya and strawberries are great sources of vitamin C. This nutrient helps your body make collagen, keeps your immune system strong, and helps your skin heal. Getting vitamin C from real food is also better than taking a pill because it comes with other natural nutrients.
Good Mood from Cocoa Nibs
Cocoa nibs have natural things called theobromine and phenylethylamine. These can help improve your mood and give you a tiny boost. Unlike coffee, the effect of theobromine starts slowly and lasts longer without making you feel shaky or tired later.
Great for After a Workout
This bowl has 84 grams of carbohydrates, which is great for refueling your muscles after exercise. With 8 grams of plant protein included, it gives your body what it needs to recover and get its energy back without needing extra supplements.
Recipe — Make It At Home
Ingredients (1 serving)
Base:
- 1 packet (100g) frozen pitaya puree
- ¼ cup papaya juice blend
- 1 teaspoon turbinado or raw cane sugar
- Small handful of ice
Toppings:
- ¼ cup Purely Elizabeth® Ancient Grain Granola
- 2 tablespoons shredded coconut flakes
- ½ cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 1 tablespoon sweetened cocoa nibs
- 2 tablespoons chocolate hazelnut spread, warmed for drizzling
Instructions
- Add frozen pitaya, papaya juice, turbinado, and ice to a high-powered blender. Blend until smooth and thick — the consistency should hold a spoon upright. Keep liquid minimal to maintain thickness.
- Pour the blended base into a wide bowl.
- Layer granola, shredded coconut, and diced strawberries across the top.
- Scatter cocoa nibs over the toppings.
- Warm the chocolate hazelnut spread for 10–15 seconds and drizzle over the entire bowl.
- Serve immediately.
Notes:
- Frozen pitaya packets are available at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and most major grocery stores.
- If the base is too thin, add more frozen pitaya rather than reducing papaya juice, to preserve flavor balance.
- Lightly toasting the coconut flakes in a dry pan before topping adds depth to the flavor.
